Why have a Floatilla in Baltimore Harbor?
A "floatilla" is a large gathering of paddlers in kayaks, canoes and other human-powered craft often structured as a rally to raise awareness of important issues. Every year thousands of people paddle in the Baltimore Harbor on kayaks, canoes, standup paddle boards, dragon boats, and other vessels. Unfortunately, millions of gallons of sewage and polluted stormwater runoff also flow into Baltimore's streams and Harbor every year.
Each year we call on experienced paddlers from Baltimore and around the region to show their support for cleaning up this incredible environmental and recreational resource. To participate you must provide your own vessel (or rent one through the ticket form with Ultimate Watersports) and be able to paddle for five continuous miles.
Registration for the 2018 Floatilla is to be announced. Make sure to register to be a part of this historic event and support our mission for a strong neighborhoods, clean streams, and a Healthy Harbor.
