Why have a Floatilla?

What is a Floatilla?

A "floatilla" is is a large gathering of paddlers in kayaks, canoes and other human-powered craft often structured as a rally to raise awareness of important issues.

Why have a Floatilla in Baltimore Harbor?

Every year thousands of people paddle in the Baltimore Harbor on kayaks, canoes, standup paddle boards, dragon boats, and other vessels.  Unfortunately, millions of gallons of sewage and polluted stormwater runoff also flow into Baltimore's streams and Harbor every year.

We are calling on experienced paddlers from Baltimore and around the region to show their support for cleaning up this incredible environmental and recreational resource.  To participate you must provide your own vessel (or have made your own arrangements for one to be provided for you) and be able to paddle for five continuous miles.

Registration will open in early 2017! Be vigilant for announcements and make sure to register to be a part of this historic event and support our mission for a strong neighborhoods, clean streams, and a Healthy Harbor.

For more information check out the FAQ, read the latest Healthy Harbor Report Card, or see real-time water quality data at HarborAlert.org.
